Bible Study pt 6 A

The Two Wills in God

God's will for your life

What a great study we had studying the Two wills in God. Our Pastor taught on the topic of finding the will of God for your life. As he taught, he made a very cool and interesting distinction between the "Perceptive will" - viz - what is revealed in God's laws and ordinances, e.g., the ten commandments, etc., verses God's "Decretive will" - namely the will of God that is hidden, and that which will always occur. Our main text was found in Deuteronomy 29:29..."The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law."

In our study, we learned that what is revealed - and that being the perceptive will - must be followed if we are to live a life pleasing to God. We also learned that though men's choices may effect situations, it is never out of the will of God, as God may will one thing (such as "you must not murder"), and yet will another thing that contradicts (e.g., evil men killing Jesus as seen in Acts 2:22-23, and Acts 4:27) in order to bring about his hidden council or decretive will. Very cool and amazing, I think! I appreciate Pastor Steve's heart, and his desire for us to understand this topic. He labored to show us that there are only two wills and not a nebulous third. There is no will of God which calls for us to seek out divination, or sign and wonders. God's will for our lives can be found in scriptures, as he has revealed his will in his laws and ordinances. Therefore, if you want to live a life pleasing to God, and a life of blessings, follow what he has revealed.
