Before we answer these questions, lets get a few things clear by bringing clarity to caricatures. First, lets consider the scriptures. It is written..."The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything" (Act 17:24-25). Do not assume, therefore, that "God needs servants." The phrase, "God needs" is something of a misnomer and contradictory to the nature of God. Secondly, lets explain what we Christians mean by "glorifying God," as it no doubt stirs up thoughts of drudgery and everlasting boredom in the mind of the unregenerate. Let it be said right off the bat that God is the "Everlastingly Enjoyable One."
God is infinitely better than any and everything we consider to be fun and enjoyable and glorious. For this reason alone, it shows that God is LOVING toward us when he creates us for "His glory." Consider a basketball game, for example. Its the last game in the championship series, and the home team is down by 1 with 3 seconds to go on the clock. As the star player takes the shot, there is quiet and calm in the crown. You can hear a pin drop, it's so quiet. As the buzzer sounds, the ball rolls around the rim, finally culminating by falling into the basket. The crowd cheer in unanimous ecstasy while the announcer yells in disbelief at the outcome. On the floor, the home team take to the center of the court, and the star player is mobbed by scrambling reporters. There is glory in this! Ask any fan of the game, just watching something of this sort alone, is enough to write movie scripts about. Yet this glory is but small and pale in comparison to the Glory of all glories. As a matter of fact, all glories - from art to leisure and sports to smiles, and warm hugs from loved ones - all exist as a pointer to the greatest glory, namely the Lord Jesus Christ.
Let it be said again, God creates not out of necessity as a defect in him, but rather as an act of love. Love is sharing what is most precious and valuable for the purpose of making someone most satisfied. God is the "All Precious and All Valuable One" and he made us for His glory, that we may be most satisfied in him. In this he is fully gloried, as he is seen and loved for his infinite worth, and we are fully satisfied, as we gain everlasting knowledge of what will make us most happy. All that said, let us now attend to the questions presented in the video.
