Nas: He Was My Favorite Rapper

"Back in the day we were slaves with whips and chains, now we slaves to whips and chains." - R-Swift

Ask any dude in the hood: "who's the illest rapper ever?" and the question itself is liable to have only 3 rappers named within the question..."Biggie, Jay Z, and Nas." I remember when Nas was my favorite rapper. He was so creative in his music, and he wasn't as outwardly wicked in his lyrics (another reason why a moral guy like me gravitated towards him and not other noted emcees like Biggie or Jay Z). And then something amazing happens: God saves me. Now I no longer see my righteous as something to boast about, and that compared to what God calls good, I am evil. Now I no longer see Nas as good compared to other gansta rappers like Biggie Smalls or 50 Cent; now I see Nas as compared to Christ and he's no longer looking like the good guy I once thought he was. Still yet, his music doesn't have the same appeal as it once did.

...Funny how that happens!
